Venessa (Vee Vee or Nessa Doll) was born March 2, 1955 to John and Florene Mitchell (both parents and younger brother preceded her in death). She was the third child out of four born  to this union.

She confessed a belief in Christ at a early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Institutional Baptist Church under the leadership of the late F. P. Piper. She also served under the leadership of the late O.E. Piper as well as the current Pastor Aaron Brasfield Jr.

She loved to sing. She song with the Gospel Chorus, The Mass Choir at the First Baptist Institutional Church and The Gospel Music Workshop of America.

After graduating from high school Venessa continued her education at Malcolm X College where she received  her certificate as a Pharmaceutical Technician.

Venessa retired from Stroger Hospital after 30 years of service to care for her mother.

Venessa became ill on December 6, 2020. She departed this life on December 31, 2020 at 10:43 a.m. at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Melrose Park, Illinois with her sister Diane, her niece Jowanna, and her cousin Rev. Freddie by her side.

Venessa leaves to remember her love: A brother: Calvin Earl Mitchell (Corliss Austin) Chicago, Illinois; A very, very special and devoted sister: Diane Bodie (Willie) Bolingbrook, Illinois; Two god mothers: Clara Burnett and Ora Holloway of Chicago, Illinois; Three god sisters: Darlene, Doretha Burnett, and Bonnie Miller of Chicago, Illinois; three god daughters, six nephews, nine great nephews, three nieces, four great nieces, four great great nieces, and three god nieces, and five very special friends: Evelyn Davis, Ann Huff, Bessie Wilson, Patricia Lampkin, and Jerri Smith of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of other relatives and friends.
