Pearlie M. Herndon entered into this life on January 30, 1935 in Swiftown, Mississippi. She was born to the proud parents of Pinkie Young and Rev. N. F. Harvey and was reared by Johnny Young. She was the eldest of her siblings and very instrumental in their upbringing, They looked at her as if she was their mom. Proceeding her in her passing was her Husband Eddie Herndon Sr., her Sons: Eddie D, Herndon Jr., Jerry J. Herndon, Timothy L. Herndon, Freddie L. Herndon, and L Gergory Herndon (Craig), her Mother: Pinkie Young, her Father: Reverend N.F. Harvey, her Step Father: Johnny Young, her Brother: Jessie Young, her Sisters: Rosetta Scott, Margaret Jefferson, Barbara Lloyd, Dorothy J. Young, and Theola Harvey, her Grandchildren: Cedric Jordan (Ced), Angelo Terrell (Nu Nu), Tamishia Smith (Meicy), her Son In Law: Harry Smith Jr., and her Daughter In Law: Patty Herndon.
While residing in Mississippi, she met and married Eddie Herndon Sr. and to this union ten children were born, eight boys and two girls. After the birth of their third child, they left Mississippi and resided in Louisville, Kentucky with her father and later moved on to Chicago, IL. After the transitioning of her husband, Pearlie met Wardell Scott (Butch) who was very intrumental in the rearing of her smaller children.
Pearlie confessed her life to Christ at an early age and while residing in Chicago, she became a member of St.Mark Missionary Baptist Church.under the spiritual guidance of Rev Charles Groom, later became a member of First Church of Spirit & Truth under the spiritual leadership and guidance of Rev R.T. Purham.
Pearlie was an excellent cook and made the best homemade biscuits you would ever want to eat. Whenever she made them, the whole vicinity came running. Her
heart and door as well as her kitchen was always open to anyone in need or was hungry. When other relatives came to Chicago, she always made sure they was taken care of.
On January 22, 2021 Pearlie gained wings surrounded by many loved ones and her legacy lives on through her remaining children, Sons: James, Johnny (Rita), and Larry. Daughters: Dorothy, Joeanne (Darrell), Brother: Jimmy Young, Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Great Great grandchildren, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and a host of Family Members and Friends.
Pearlie you are so loved by many and will be truly missed.
