Gloria Montrea Reezer (Cox) was born on September 20, 1953. She was the second child born to the late Earnest & Ellese Reezer in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1953, along with her parents and her oldest sibling, she moved to Detroit, Michigan. At an early age, Gloria found Jesus Christ and became active in church activities and singing in the choir at Mount Nebo Baptist Church.
Gloria grew up in Southwest Detroit, a small family oriented community of Detroit, Michigan. She attended schools in the Detroit Public School system (Mark Twain Elementary, Hunter Middle School, and Southwestern High School). In 1966, at the age of 14, Gloria was diagnosed with heart issues. These issues followed until her sunset on February 10, 2021.
In 1972, Gloria married Willie Graves of Detroit, Michigan. To this union no children were born. Beginning in 1973 through 1976, Gloria gave birth to three children: Halena Cortish Graves, Earnest Ulysees Graves (James Wilson Cox), and Boyce Deshaun Graves (Jesse Sanders). In 1978, Gloria married the late James Wilson Cox of Chicago, Illinois. Upon James’s death in 1979, Gloria relocated to Chicago, Illinois.
On April 28, 2007, Gloria received her high school diploma from Fields Lab School. Gloria loved to listen to music, draw, crochet, travel and enjoy quality time with her family. Gloria was loved by many and a peacemaker amongst all. Gloria gave straightforward and mindful advice to inquiring minds. Gloria provided food, love, and care to anyone in her presence—she was the neighborhood grandma. Gloria simply loved God given life.
Gloria proceeds in death her parents, Earnest & Ellese Reezer, her husband, James Cox, a nephew, Demetrias Boyd, and a great nephew, Earnest Reezer III. Gloria leaves to mourn her three sisters: Brenda Reezer, Wendy Reezer (Juan Boyd), and Oreannena Reezer.
